Global Leadership Institute (“GLI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal data of every learner, client, and visitor who interacts with Certifications.ac and our learning management system (LMS). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, the legal bases we rely on, and the rights you have over your data.
Global Leadership Institute is a pan-African professional certification and training body offering over 1,990 accredited certifications to professionals across more than 40 countries. For the purpose of applicable data-protection law, GLI is the data controller responsible for your personal data. We operate offices in Nairobi (Kenya), Kigali (Rwanda) and Delaware (USA).
When you enrol in a certification, create an LMS account, request information, or contact us, we may collect your full name, email address, telephone number, country of residence, professional details, chosen certification and study plan, and payment reference details.
When you use our website and LMS, we may automatically collect your device type, browser, IP address, pages visited, course progress, and similar analytics data through cookies and comparable technologies.
As you study, we store your enrolment status, lesson and module progress, examination attempts and scores, and certificate records so that we can deliver the programme and issue verifiable credentials.
We process your personal data to: create and manage your account and enrolment; deliver course content and track your progress; administer examinations and issue certificates; verify certificates on request by employers and third parties; process payments and issue receipts; respond to your enquiries and provide support; send you service and administrative messages; improve our website, LMS and services; and comply with legal, accreditation and record-keeping obligations.
Depending on your jurisdiction, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases: the performance of a contract with you (delivering your certification); your consent (for marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests (improving and securing our services); and compliance with legal obligations.
We use essential cookies to operate the site and LMS (for example, to keep you signed in and remember your course progress), and analytics cookies to understand how our site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may affect the functionality of the LMS.
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with: payment processors (such as Paystack and mobile-money and banking partners) to complete transactions; trusted service providers who host and maintain our systems under confidentiality obligations; employers or third parties only when they verify a certificate you have chosen to make verifiable; and authorities where required by law. Certificate verification discloses only the credential holder’s name, certification title, certificate ID and status.
As a pan-African institution with international infrastructure, your data may be processed in Kenya, Rwanda, the United States or other countries. Where data is transferred across borders, we take appropriate steps to ensure it remains protected in line with this policy and applicable law.
We retain your account and learning records for as long as you hold an active relationship with us and thereafter as needed to maintain the integrity and verifiability of the certificates we issue, to meet accreditation standards, and to comply with legal obligations. Certificate records are retained on a long-term basis so that credentials remain verifiable.
We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted password storage, access controls on administrative systems, secure session handling, and restricted access to personal data on a need-to-know basis. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work continuously to safeguard your information.
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you; to request correction of inaccurate data; to request deletion of your data (except records we must retain to keep certificates verifiable or to meet legal obligations); to object to or restrict certain processing; to withdraw consent for marketing at any time; and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@certifications.ac.
Our certifications and services are intended for professionals and adult learners. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can address it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated through our website or by email where appropriate.
